<p>Monthly Meeting at Harvey&#8217;s!</p>
<p>Networking begins at 11:45 AM with the program beginning at noon until 1:00 PM.</p>
<p>The August 18th speaker is Kristi Brown, community development project manager for economic development in the seven-state Tennessee Valley region. In that capacity she works with distributors of TVA power, community leaders and other economic development partners to foster job creation and retention.</p>
<p>Brown’s responsibilities include helping communities take advantage of economic growth opportunities through leadership development, team building activities, strategic planning, technology assessments and site-visit preparation.</p>
<p>Before joining TVA, Brown started her own consulting business, providing public relations and marketing assistance and training as well as business and life coaching to public and private sector clients. Previously she served as vice president of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, assistant director of Enrollment Services at Mississippi State University and executive director of two local tourism organizations.</p>
<p>Brown earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Mississippi State. She is certified as a chamber professional by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management and as a tourism marketing professional by the Southeast Tourism Society.</p>
<p>A published author and inspirational speaker, Brown was listed on the 2003 Mississippi Business Journal Top 40 Under 40 list. She lives in Starkville with her husband, Steve.</p>
